Disco Sour Cocktail Kit with Pisco, Falernum, and Butterfly Pea Flower Extract

This month, we’ve got a star of a cocktail that’s delicious, easy to make, AND has major wow factor. The Disco Sour is a modern take on the Pisco Sour, upping the ante with island spiced falernum and butterfly pea flower extract, making for a magical cocktail that literally changes color as you drink it.

The original Disco Sour was created by Megan Deschaine and is currently on the menu at 492 in Charleston, South Carolina. Our kit is inspired by Megan Deschaine's original, highly acclaimed Disco Sour recipe and is adapted to best fit our included kit ingredients. We encourage you to seek out and try the original in Charleston!

To create your own adapted Disco Sour, you’ll start with Macchu Pisco Quebranta, an award-winning Peruvian pisco that’s herbal and earthy, with a perfect bite for cocktails. Mix with fresh lemon juice and sweeten with Tippleman’s Double Spiced Falernum, a popular tiki cocktail ingredient with flavors of ginger, lime, and island spices like clove and nutmeg. You’ll pour this pale yellow mixture over bright blue ice cubes, created with Wild Hibiscus Flower Co.’s B’lure Butterfly Pea Flower Extract in your Peak Ice Works Everyday Ice Tray. As the acid from the lemon juice reacts with the butterfly pea flower extract, your cocktail will slowly turn a deep, rich purple. Garnish with a blackberry dusted in Wilton’s Edible Gold Pearl Dust and you’ve got yourself one groovy drink.

For our Premium subscribers, we’re upgrading your selection of pisco to Macchu Pisco La Diablada. La Diablada is a super premium pisco in the ancholado style, meaning it’s a three grape blend of Quebranta, Muscatel and Italia grapes. We’re also sending one of our favorite German rieslings, the Joh. Jos. Prum Gracher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett, which you’ll mix with pisco to create the floral and refreshing Pisco Smash.
